Winter In Wine Country at vinAmité

As 2016 comes to a close, the Coulombe family looks back at this year and are amazed at how quickly it passed by. As is now the case every year, we were so completely involved with the release of our 2014 vintage. Then that unexpected brand name change from vinPerdu to vinAmité due to a name conflict added to our unexpected workload and resulting confusion for customers.

With all of this behind us now, we look towards our private tastings in the next few weeks as we assess our this year’s vintage, doing their thing in the snug tank room below the wine lounge. We’ll be thinking about red blending as we taste and also plan our first white blend as we make our notes. One thing we know for sure, there’ll be a bit more complexity to all our wines of our next release, as we look to bottling next year. With a great season behind us this year, we think even better than last year, our expectations continue to peak as our series of fine wines continue to evolve.

As this season was coming to its close, we were able to confidently commit our wines’ supply to a few restaurants, RauDZ and Krafty in Kelowna, and ski resorts Big White in Kelowna, and Mica Helsinki and Mustang Powder Lodge in Revelstoke, and in town, Woolsey Creek Lodge. Next season, with twice the volume, we can look with promise to further distribution from the very start of the season for interesting restaurants and wine stores.

We look to the near future with excitement this coming Spring with two new wines, a white blend to add to our naked Chardonnay and tasty Pinot Gris, and a single varietal Petit Verdot added to our two single varietals Gamay Noir, Cabernet Franc, and two blends Compass and Hidden Corner.

This coming year, we will be offering our wines through new distribution sources in BC and Alberta for friends of vinAmité and wine enthusiasts who have not yet had the opportunity to try our wines beyond our doors.

In the coming weeks, we’ll start barrel tasting our next vintage with great excitement for what awaits our wines. Every indication is that this coming vintage will be our best to date, and with a selection of three whites and five reds, a phenomenal selection for the most discerning palates and tastes, all in small, carefully prepared lots. It’s quite a diverse portfolio for such a small winery of limited quantity wines offering a unique opportunity for the enthusiastic wine palate.

Meanwhile, you can still order our 2014 Cabernet Franc, Pinot Gris and 2015 Gamay Noir for the Holidays by emailing us at [email protected]. If you wish to visit our wine store, call us for an appointment at 250-535-1998 or 1997; we’re just a minute away down the lane from up on the hill.
